FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 19, 2001
HALLIBURTON SUBSEA AWARDED NORSK HYDRO VESTERLED CONTRACT
DALLAS, Texas - Halliburton Subsea, a business unit of Halliburton Company's (NYSE:HAL) Energy Services Group, has been awarded a contract by Norsk Hydro for the Vesterled subsea tie-in work. The award to Stolt Rockwater Joint Venture - a joint venture between Halliburton Subsea and Stolt Offshore - is covered by the existing frame agreement for Hyperbaric Welding and Diving Services Contingency that was signed with Statoil, Norsk Hydro and ESSO last year. The approximate value of the work order is NOK 200 million ($US22 million).
Vesterled is a new 32" pipeline, to be installed by EMC in spring 2001, which will connect the existing Heimdal and Frigg FNA lines. The SRJV workscope will comprise all subsea tie ins. The Pipeline Repair System spread will be utilised for hyperbaric welding of the 32" Vesterled tie-in spool and for welding on the 32" Frigg endpiece. This offshore work will be carried out during July and August 2001 and Halliburton Subsea's DSV Toisa Polaris will be utilised as the prime construction vessel for the work. The work order also includes an option for further subsea construction work around the Heimdal platform in 2002 and 2003.
Commenting on the award, Edgar Ortiz, president and CEO of Halliburton's Energy Services Group, said: "We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Stolt Offshore in this first major scope under the renewed frame contract with Statoil, Norsk Hydro and Esso."
