HALLIBURTON INTRODUCES STATE-OF-THE-ART SLIM-HOLE CARBON OXYGEN LOGGING SYSTEM
Houston, Texas - Halliburton Energy Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL), announced today the introduction of its Reservoir Monitor Tool Elite (RMT Elite), a slim-hole pulsed neutron logging system for use in locating by-passed hydrocarbons, and for the monitoring and management of hydrocarbon reserves' production. The new system targets the rapidly expanding through-tubing carbon oxygen (C/O) and pulsed neutron capture (PNC) reservoir monitoring markets, while providing operators with a timely answer for remedial work-over decisions.
The RMT Elite is the most technically advanced carbon oxygen logging system available today, offering superior precision and accuracy that allows for logging speeds that are two to five times faster than competing C/O systems. Using high-density Bismuth Germanium Oxide detectors, the RMT Elite has also achieved resolutions that were previously only obtainable by large diameter C/O systems designed for conveyance through casing. By allowing oil and gas operators the opportunity to accurately evaluate the time-lapse performance of their hydrocarbon producing reservoirs, without removing the tubing from wells, they are seeing tremendous benefits and cost savings when using the system.
"Since the introduction of our TMD (Thermal Multigate Decay) tool in 1983, Halliburton has prided itself on providing our clients with the latest technology in reservoir monitoring tools," said Jody Powers, president of Halliburton Energy Services. "The RMT Elite represents the latest innovation to this line of services offered by Halliburton, and will provide our clients with the most accurate answers available in today's current market environment."
The RMT Elite's modular hardware design provides a highly versatile system that has multiple operating modes and capabilities, including simultaneous inelastic, capture and water flow measurements. The modularity of the systems also provides combinability with complete string of production logging tool sensors for detail production analysis.
To complement the RMT Elite's accurate measurements, Halliburton has a complete line of interpretation products, such as the CarboxSat and SigmaSat models. Recognizing that not all reservoirs can be interpreted with "canned" interpretation models, the company's logging group has developed customizable interpretation models that are tailored to fit the needs of each customer's specific reservoir analysis problem. The attached customized interpretation model example, referred to as KernSat, was developed for wells under active steam-flood recovery and uses a combination of Sigma and C/O measurements to calculate oil and steam saturation in the reservoir.
Halliburton Energy Services provides products, services and integrated solutions for oil and gas exploration, development and production. Capabilities range from initial evaluation of producing formations to drilling, completion, production enhancement and well maintenance - for a single well or an entire field. With more than 300 service centers in more than 90 countries, Halliburton possesses the global perspective that is increasingly important for energy exploration and production.
Founded in 1919, Halliburton Company is the world's leading diversified energy services, engineering, energy equipment, construction and maintenance company. In 1999, Halliburton's consolidated revenues were $14.9 billion and it conducted business with a workforce of approximately 100,000 in more than 120 countries.
