SPERRY-SUN DRILLING SERVICES, A DIVISION OF HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC., AND LANDMARK GRAPHICS CORPORATION INTRODUCE THE RESOLUTION 3D™ SYSTEM

DALLAS, TX - Sperry-Sun Drilling Services, a division of Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. (HES) - a business unit of Halliburton Company, and Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL), announced today the release of their RESolution 3D™ system. This complete real-time 3D drilling and reservoir solution system revolutionizes the drilling decision-making process by enabling real-time visualization and updating of earth models in both rig and office settings. The RESolution 3D™ system changes the workflow process between drilling and geoscience. Now, real-time drilling information can be placed in the interpretation and in the planning environment as soon as it is acquired to enhance decision-making among asset team members. The same information is available at the rig in an integrated NT-based visualization system, complete with the interpreted earth model and adjacent well data. This integrated system facilitates faster and more informed decisions in the drilling of the current well and in planning for future wells.

Sperry-Sun's INSITE™ rig information system - the most technologically advanced data-gathering application in the oil and gas industry - is used to acquire and manage real-time drilling data at the rigsite. These data are linked to Landmark's OpenWorks® integrated project data management system, now running on both the UNIX and the Windows NT operating systems. The RESolution 3D™ system populates real-time drilling information as it is obtained directly in to the OpenWorks® at the rig or in the office. Real-time data can now be obtained immediately within the applications with which the wells were planned, such as SeisWorks™, EarthCube™, Stratamodel™, Wellbore Planner™, and PetroWorks™. At the rig, viewing the real-time data in a rich 3D-visualization environment and revising the well path with planning software, such as Compass™, allow for making better well steering decisions.

The RESolution 3D™ system has undergone an extensive field-testing program over the last six months, providing the robustness of the data connections and reinforcing its high value to customers. Tests have been run around the globe, including the North Slope, Orinoco Belt, North Sea, deepwater Gulf of Mexico, and Atlantic Canada. Even during the beta program, the RESolution 3D™ system played a significant role in making major well decisions, from the setting of critical casing seats to reservoir well steering and horizontal well landing.

"It is a breakthrough in rigsite and office data analysis and in drilling productivity, and an integral part of the HES vision to be the undisputed leader in the provision of Real Time Reservoir Solutions (RTRS™) for our customers," states Edgar Ortiz, chief executive officer and president, Halliburton Company Energy Services Group. "The RESolution 3D™ system removes a long-standing barrier between the rigsite and the office, enabling real-time improvement of subsurface understanding and leading to higher quality decisions for reservoir optimization," says Robert P. Peebler, Landmark's president and chief executive officer. "By linking real-time drilling information directly into Landmark's OpenWorks®, critical decisions can be made where and when they are required, no longer constrained by data availability, limited communication between the drilling engineers and geoscientists, or the lack of high-end visualization at the rigsite."
