Halliburton's Wellstream Awarded Two Separate Gulf of Mexico Contracts

DALLAS, TX -Wellstream, a division of Halliburton Company's (NYSE:HAL) Brown & Root Energy Services, announces it has been awarded contracts from Mariner Energy and Kerr McGee for Gulf of Mexico subsea tie-back projects.

The first, from Mariner Energy, is for the supply of flexible risers and insulated flowline to Black Widow being developed as a single well subsea tie-back to British Borneo's Morpeth Mini-TLP (Wellstream also supplied risers for this development in 1997 - see Editor's Note). Scope of this award is a follows:
   •  One insulated Production Riser
   •  One pigging loop riser
   •  One 2.5 mile insulated production flowline

The second award from Kerr McGee, also flexible risers and flowlines, is for the dual subsea tie-back of Viosca Knoll 826 No.12 well to their Neptune SPAR (where Wellstream also provided the export risers in 1995 - See Editor's Note) in the Gulf of Mexico. Its scope is as follows:
   •  Two 4" production risers each 3,500ft, 7100 psi,
   •  Two 4" production flowlines each 1.75 miles, 7100 psi and 1930ft water depth
   •  Two 4" subsea jumpers at 1930ft WD

For both awards Wellstream has committed to meeting aggressive delivery schedules of June and July 2000 respectively.

Randy Harl, President of Brown & Root Energy Services, said "Key factors in promoting these flexible awards included Wellstream's previous experience in the Gulf of Mexico on British Borneo Morpeth and Kerr McGee Neptune, as well as improved flexible pipe corrosion resistance and reduced installation cost over rigid options. These awards are a significant result in a market otherwise dominated by rigid pipe. This will position Wellstream strongly for future involvement in subsea tie-back developments in the Gulf of Mexico."
