HALLIBURTON LAUNCHES SECOND STATE-OF-THE ART
VESSEL FOR GULF OF MEXICO WORK
New vessel, Cape Hawke, continues Halliburton's longstanding relationship with PEMEX
HOUSTON, Texas (July 23, 1999) - Halliburton Energy Services (HES), a business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL), has deployed a new vessel-- mv Cape Hawke-- to Carmen, Mexico to enhance its contract with PEMEX. The new vessel replaces the mv 221, which has been providing services for PEMEX in the Gulf of Mexico for the last 19 years.
The mv Cape Hawke is the second totally new state-of-the-art vessel unveiled by Halliburton this year for work in the Gulf of Mexico. The mv Stim Star, unveiled in February, serves the frac pack deep water market, while the mv Cape Hawke serves the acidizing market.
"The launching of these two vessels is indicative of our commitment to providing quality services for our Gulf of Mexico customers," said Edgar Ortiz, president, Halliburton Energy Services.
Some of the new vessel's features include below deck storage of bulk additives, primarily acids and xylene; dynamic positioning capability; and 6,750 hydraulic horsepower pumping capability. In addition, the mv Cape Hawke has Automatic Remote Controls of high pressure pumping and fluid blending and proportioning; and it contains the newest hydraulic horsepower equipment available to the market. The mv Cape Hawke is also International Maritime Organization/SOLAS certified.
