Jet Research Center To Reclaim Market Leadership In Shaped Charged Technology
DALLAS, Texas - Jet Research Center (JRC), the "Pioneer of the Shaped Charge," is repositioning itself as a market leader in shaped charged technology and perforating products design and manufacture. These shaped charges are deployed with perforating gun systems on either wireline or tubing (TCP). JRC is a division of Halliburton Energy Services, a business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL).
"Halliburton is associated with quality perforating products,"said Edgar Ortiz, President of Halliburton Energy Services. "Even though the JRC brand has been absent from the market for almost six years, there remains considerable name recognition."
"JRC brings to the market the highest standards in manufacturing systems," said Larry Albert, JRC general manager. "Our automated shaped charge facility and precision machine shop are ISO 9001 Quality Certified, and we have achieved OSHA VPP Merit plant status--the first explosive manufacturer in the USA to gain this certification. Further, JRC has recently added SAP integrated systems to better meet our customer needs."
JRC will employ approximately 130 people and operate from an 800-acre site near Alvarado, Texas, located 20 miles south of Fort Worth. JRC plans to substantially increase its investment in research and development to improve the focus on customer needs. Additionally, a new JRC sales force has been assembled and will be working to reposition their products in the marketplace.
In 1945 Well Explosives Company (Welex) adapted World War II bazooka technology to create shaped charge technology to perforate oil and gas wells. Welex held the exclusive rights to the technology for two decades. JRC was incorporated as a separate legal entity in 1955. JRC designed, manufactured and sold perforating products to the oil industry for over 35 years and then operated as a subsidiary of Halliburton until 1993, when it was reorganized as a division of Halliburton Energy Services.
Halliburton Company, founded in 1919, is the world's leading provider of products and services to the petroleum and energy industries. The company serves its customers with a broad range of products and services through its Energy Services Group, Engineering and Construction Group, and Dresser Equipment Group business segments.
