MARKET LEADERS YOKOGAWA AND DRESSER EQUIPMENT GROUP ANNOUNCE CUSTOMER-FOCUSED ALLIANCE FOR FIELDBUS-INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS
Dallas, Texas - Yokogawa Electric Corporation (Tokyo: Yokogawa) and Dresser Equipment Group, Inc. (DEG), a business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL), are entering into a customer-focused alliance to develop and market FOUNDATION fieldbus products, integrated systems and management tools to improve process availability. In a joint statement issued today, the companies announced that the alliance will focus on providing process industry customers with reduced enterprise-wide costs, compressed project schedules, and minimized technology implementation risks. The two companies will cooperate immediately on both technology and systems integration of a new FOUNDATION fieldbus compliant positioner.
Mr. Patrick Murray, President of DEG, stated,"The joint effort will bring to bear the technology leadership of both global organizations and provide our customers with advanced FOUNDATION fieldbus-based automation solutions. Additionally, the broad spectrum of products and services available from both organizations will offer customers the most complete set of solutions in the marketplace."
Mr. Isao Uchida, President of Yokogawa, added, "The relationship between the two organizations will result in substantial risk reduction for users of advanced communications technology, as well as reduced total cost for system implementation. New products will include industrial automation systems, measurement devices, and control valve systems compliant with the Fieldbus Foundation standard. Additionally, DEG's process equipment know-how will help Yokogawa expand its asset management coverage from instrument management to the entire process."
Initially, the Dresser Valve Division (DVD) of DEG will collaborate with Yokogawa to deliver integrated process control solutions. DVD President, Mr. Salvatore Ruggeri, said, "The alliance with Yokogawa will result in significant value-added benefits for our customers. Value creation will be generated from a strong foundation of technology leadership, business process efficiencies, and a broad spectrum of market-leading products and services."
Key customer benefits will include cost reductions resulting from fully integrated sensor-
to-boardroom solutions, advanced technologies, technical applications experience, enterprise wide control and communication, and one-stop shopping. Risks associated with fieldbus implementation will be significantly reduced based upon the combined expertise of the alliance partners, an integrated global support infrastructure, proven reliability, and improved business efficiencies from project concept to revenue. The alliance will establish a focused team of professionals who will take on single source responsibility to coordinate a "basket" approach on purchasing agreements and projects. The execution and coordination of the project will allow customers to spend their time on other key issues.
