WAYNE DIVISION DEVELOPS FUEL DISPENSER KEYPADS FOR ACCESSIBILITY COMPLIANCE
Austin, Texas - Dresser Equipment Group's Wayne Division, a leader in the design and development of service station automation systems, has developed an alternative keypad to make fueling accessible to individuals with special needs. Dresser Energy Group is a business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL).
Beginning this month, a minimum of 20 percent of all fuel points at retail fuel outlets in Texas must be in compliance with the Texas Accessibility Standards. To meet the requirement all operable components of the dispenser must fall below 54 inches measured vertically from grade. This means that dispensers on islands that are high enough to put operable parts out of compliance must be retrofitted to bring them into compliance.
"The Dresser Wayne alternative keypad meets all compliance standards that have been set in all states," said Pat Murray, president, Dresser Equipment Group. "In fact, this alternative keypad exceeds the minimum standards required for compliance. Wayne has made it possible for dispenser keypads to be accessible to all fueling customers."
Wayne Product Manager Scott Negley says, "Wayne Vista Dispensers mounted at grade are already in compliance and no modifications are necessary." Negley also said that Wayne dispensers mounted on an island that are not compliant could be easily retrofitted with an alternative keypad and the appropriate software.
