FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 28, 1999
Subsea International Completes ROV Support Contract With Heerema Marine Contractors
DALLAS, Texas (Sep. 28, 1999) - As a division of Brown & Root Energy Services, Subsea International successfully completed the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) portion of the Elf Virgo platform installation in more than 1300 feet of water.
Providing three ROV systems and associated tooling onboard the Heerema barge SSCV Balder, SubSea International participated in the installation of the fourth deepest water fixed platform in the world. Utilizing the ROV as a primary function, the jacket was grouted at depth using ROV hot stab technology thus eliminating the need for steel grout plumbing routed to the surface.
SubSea International, which became a member of Halliburton Subsea Systems (HSS) following the Halliburton and Dresser merger, has been in operation since 1969 and building ROVs since 1984. A list of the company's successful accomplishments include the new design 120 HP deepwater 3,000 meter Hercules, and 150 HP ultra-deepwater 5,000 meter Hammerhead ROV systems.
