Halliburton and Expro Group Form Strategic Alliance in the Gulf of Mexico to Offer Unique Client Service

Dallas, Texas (May 27, 1998) — Halliburton Energy Services (HES), a business unit of Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL), and Expro Americas, Inc., a business unit of the Expro Group, have formed an alliance to provide a unique range of subsea technology and testing services to clients in the Gulf of Mexico. The alliance will offer enhanced subsea intervention systems and specialist well testing facilities for HES and Expro clients in this region.

The agreement underlines the commitment of both service companies to meeting the needs of operators in this highly active hydrocarbon-producing area. The alliance will be the deepwater solution provider in the Gulf of Mexico for drill-stem testing, subsea intervention, appraisal and production testing.

"The increased activity in deep water provides unique opportunities and challenges of exploration and development for our customers," said Edgar Ortiz, president of Halliburton Energy Services. "With this alliance, Halliburton will be able to provide the most reliable downhole testing tools and flexible surface packages, while Expro brings a wealth of engineering and service expertise in the subsea intervention and production testing business. The combination of services from both companies offers our customers the ability to obtain complete exploration and production test data to more completely evaluate the reservoir potential."

The alliance will offer a more cost-effective solution to customers by reducing the number of interfaces to be managed. This will lead to more efficient operations offshore where savings in rig time means significant cost reductions.

"The synergies captured within the alliance will enable our Gulf of Mexico clients to approach their deepwater challenges confident that Halliburton and Expro will deliver superior service, backed by a comprehensive track record of product performance in deepwater environments," said Graham Coutts, executive director of the Expro Group. "We believe that this combination will make a significant impact on the whole of the deepwater intervention and production testing business. The alliance is structured to deliver managed solutions and superior service to our clients through the application of quality service and innovative technology."
