Esso and Halliburton sign agreement for Jotun
Stavanger, Norway - ESSO Norge AS and Halliburton AS have today signed an agreement for an Engineering/ Procurement Installation/Commissioning (EPIC) contract for the Tieback and Pipeline Systems for the Jotun Field on the Norwegian Continental shelf. The work will be performed by the Halliburton AS business unit, Rockwater.
The Jotun development facilities consist of a Floating Production/Storage/Offloading vessel (FPSO) and wellhead platform connected by the Tieback System (risers/flowlines/umbilical). The Tieback System will carry hydrocarbon production and source water from the wellhead platform to the production vessel, and provide gas lift, chemical injection and water injection in addition to communication and power to the wellhead platform. The FPSO facilities will be designed for an oil capacity of about 90 KB/day and the oil will be offloaded to shuttle tankers. Production startup is planned for 1999.
The value of the total contract is about 300 MNOK. The early engineering and preparatory activities will start immediately, however, the offshore installation work will start in 1998, with planned production startup in 1999. Project management and engineering will be undertaken at Rockwater's offices at Tasta in Stavanger.
