New Deep-Star Perforating System Provides Deeper Penetration To Maximize Production
HOUSTON, Texas - Maximum charge penetration and high shot density are essential for maximizing production. Halliburton Energy Services, the originator of jet perforating for the energy industry, is introducing Deep-Star, a new through- tubing capsule perforating system that provides deeper penetration at higher shot densities than any system currently available in the industry. Deep-Star has produced certified API results of 15.84 inches penetration at 8 shots per foot.
All the parameters for successful perforating -- penetration, phase orientation, entrance hole diameter, shot density and debris control have been optimized to bring the most value from a single through-tubing perforating system. Advanced hydrocode modeling systems were used during the design phase that led to the elimination of charge interference in Deep-Star. Various phasing options are available, including the new "Triphase" phasing, making the system extremely versatile. Charge orientation is improved because center-of-gravity effects were considered during design, allowing the gun to naturally orient itself.
Deep-Star also provides complete interval coverage through a newly-designed tandem connector that allows for placement of the charge across the connector. The new connector minimizes carrier strip deformation, which is especially important when retrieving the carrier through tubing. The connector also permits uninterrupted shot densities across the entire gun length.
The Deep-Star Perforating System is available in shot densities up to 6 and 8 shots-per-foot for carrier sizes of 2 1/8 and 1 11/16 inches respectively.
Halliburton Energy Services, a Halliburton Company organization, is one of the world's leading suppliers of energy products and services. Founded in 1919, the organization provides a broad range of services and products to the energy industry on a global basis.
