FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 27, 1995
Soekor And Halliburton Form Integrated Drilling Services Alliance
CAPETOWN, South Africa - Soekor Pty. Ltd., the South African National Oil Company, and Halliburton (Pty.) Ltd., a Halliburton Energy Services unit, announced that they have begun an alliance for the provision of integrated drilling services throughout the Sub-Saharan region of Africa.
As part of the agreement, Halliburton will be the provider of drilling services for Soekor which initially will include cementing, mud, mud logging, navigation, and geological laboratory services. Additional services are being discussed for future projects.
Soekor previously performed many of its own drilling services. The agreement now in effect enables Soekor to concentrate more resources on exploration and production engineering. As part of the agreement, 38 employees who were tasked with Soekor's drilling services prior to the alliance have been re-employed by Halliburton (Pty.) Ltd. The addition of these resources and expertise allows Halliburton to offer integrated drilling services to all of its customers in Southern Africa.
The two companies will work closely together to improve efficiencies and reduce total well costs on Soekor projects. Soekor and Halliburton will also market their expanded capabilities on projects within the entire Sub-Saharan region of Africa.
Halliburton Energy Services, a Halliburton Company organization, is one of the world's leading suppliers of energy products and services. Founded in 1919, the organization provides a broad range of services and products to the energy industry on a global basis.
