Smart Release Tool

The Halliburton Smart Release tool (SRT) was designed for use
in deepwater wells, as a contingency for releasing from the tool
string if the bottomhole assembly becomes stuck. In complex
high-angle wells, the risk of effective manipulation by using
mechanical tools increases. If a tool string becomes stuck, then
the SRT uses an electromechanical activation to release the tools
below the rope socket. There is no requirement to “work” the tools
or drop recovery devices, so the full pulling strength of the wire
can still be used.
Benefits
• Helps eliminate the risks of dropping cutting devices
• Provides clean internal fishing neck for retrieval
• Nonexplosive feature reduces risks
• No transportation limitations
• Compatible with all conventional mechanical tool strings
• Does not require surface manipulation to release
• Operates in vertical, deviated, and horizontal wells
• Can reduce the overall HSE risks
Features
• 15,000-psi (103-MPa) rating
• Predetermined modular timers are set at 6-hr, 12-hr, 24-hr, and
48-hr intervals
• Enables maximum pull of wire
• Can be utilized as a soft-setting device
• Easy field redress for subsequent runs
