Portable systems and ancillary equipment includes:

  • Portable manual hydraulic units
  • Portable data acquisition units

Portable Manual Hydraulic Units

Portable manual hydraulic units provide manual control valves for each downhole hydraulic line. They are used, for example, in land applications in which the operator drives between well sites and offloads a portable hydraulic control system at wells that require a movement of one or more downhole valves.

The portable hydraulic supply module is typically based on a pneumatic pump, and requires a compressed air supply. It also requires a hydraulic supply, typically from the portable hydraulic supply module.

Portable Acquisition Units

For permanent downhole gauge run-in-hole (RIH) applications, a portable acquisition unit (PAU) is used to power up and communicate with the permanent downhole gauge(s). Both battery-operated and mains-only versions are available. The unit is based on an RTI interface card, which is also used in the stand-alone permanent monitoring product segment. An 8Mb memory daughter board is included for data logging during RIH.

Surface Hydraulic System (SHS) Simulators

A surface hydraulic system (SHS) sSimulator is available for applications in which interface testing to Halliburton's control system is required without the need for a full-blown electrohydraulic SHS panel. The SHS simulator is based on the SCADApack PLCs used in the SHS itself. The external interface is Modbus over TCP/IP, RS485 or RS232. Control knobs for variable analog inputs and LEDs for digital output indication are available on the front panel for simulation of the SHS instrumentation.

Permanent Downhole Gauge Simulators

The downhole gauge simulator simulates Halliburton's ROC™ range of permanent downhole gauges, both in terms of signal generated and power consumed. The ROC gauge simulator is used during product development, product testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT) and system integration testing (SIT), and is available for both internal use and sale to the customer.

Permanent Downhole Cable Simulators

The downhole cable simulator simulates Halliburton's standard tubing-encapsulated conductor (TEC) downhole cable for permanent downhole gauge applications. The standard TEC simulated is 0.049” wall thickness with 18AWG solid copper conductor. The cable simulator is used during product development, product testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT) and system integration testing (SIT). It is available for both internal use and sale to the customer.
