Jeff
Senior Technical Advisor
Landmark Software and Services
Houston, Texas

In the three years I've been with Halliburton, I've had assignments in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary and Mexico. I work with brilliant people every day, and I meet geology and geophysics professionals from all over the world. I've also had more training and development opportunities than I can name.

And to think, I didn't really plan to work at Halliburton. The Company had made donations of software to my school, Texas A&M University, so I understood what Halliburton's Landmark Software and Services product service line was involved in. But until I started my job hunt, I really didn't know much else about Halliburton.

I found out that there were opportunities at Halliburton by watching the Texas A&M Career Center website. After I had an interview on campus and then another interview at the Landmark work location in Houston, I accepted my first position at Halliburton as a subsurface consultant for Landmark. In that role, I acted as a mentor and instructor on Halliburton's geology and geophysics applications. Managers trusted me to take on any task, and they gave me constant opportunities to learn. Over time, more and more people came to know my name.

I was recently promoted to the role of senior technical advisor for Desktop Global Business Development. I am just starting in this position and I'm learning a lot about our technology and our clients' needs. The challenge every day is to show our clients the value of Landmark technology solutions, specifically focusing on our new DecisionSpace® Desktop application.

I don't always know the answers. However, our team shares a good foundation of knowledge, and I can call anyone at any time to get the help I need.

The most difficult part of my job is keeping clients happy at all times, even when things are going wrong. Client expectations are very high. We always have to be on our game to be able to give them the top-quality technology and services they expect from Halliburton.

My geosciences degree was a great foundation for me to build on. Since I came to Halliburton, I have been given many opportunities to develop myself professionally and in life. I really value my colleagues, and the opportunities I have for travel and personal development. It's a great place for me, and a great place for my future.
