Seth
Manager of Development Initiatives
Houston
When I joined Halliburton 17 years ago, the oil and gas industry was the most attractive workplace in my home country of Nigeria, and that played a major role in my decision to come to work for Halliburton. I started my career with the Company as a systems analyst. Since then, I've been able to move into roles in different areas of the Company and even different parts of the world. In addition to working in Nigeria as Human Resources Development manager and later as a country manager for Real Estate, Communications and Human Resources Development, I've also worked as a performance consultant in London. Right now, I work in Houston as manager of Development Initiatives. My career shows that, job performance does create opportunities for growth and mobility.
In my current role, I design, develop, facilitate, monitor and evaluate Workforce Development programs in countries targeted for strategic growth. I enjoy this position because I'm able to make a real, positive impact on the Company by fostering a talent pipeline and ensuring that our employees have the knowledge, skills and behaviors they need to meet customer expectations and support Halliburton's long-term business goals. The work I do also influences positive culture change in those countries where we have implemented our workforce development programs.
One of the reasons I've been able to advance in my career is because the Company has afforded me so many learning and development opportunities. I couldn't begin to tell you how many I've had over the years – I lost count a long time ago. But those opportunities helped increase my personal and interpersonal effectiveness, and have given me the foundation I needed to achieve the objectives of each role I've taken on. If you're keen to learn and continuously improve, you'll find the right environment at Halliburton.
